Bachey-Legros Chassagne Monrachet 1er Cru Morgeots Vieilles Vignes

Apple Crumble topped with toasted Hazelnuts in a Glass!

The Domaine Bachey-Legros is an old family run estate centered in the picturesque village of Santaney-le-Haut, which started out as grape growers in the 19th Century under François Bachey. 6th generation Christiane and her two sons Samuel and Lénaïc have run the Domaine since 1993. They produce wine on a small scale, around 7,000 cases a year.

The ethos of the Domaine is very much on the use of “old vines” – or Vieilles Vignes – with many vineyards parcels being in excess of 60 years of age. The wine is aged in oak barrels (20% new) in its lees for 14 months.

This is an exquisite example of Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s pretigious vineyards.  Lemon in colour with toasty, vanilla oak, apple crumble, mouthwatering acidity and wet-stone minerality combined in this exceptionally classy wine.
