This Merlot has an intense blood red colour with a purple hue. On the nose it shows deep ripe blackberries and cherries with a hint of liquorice, and this follows through onto the palate. A beautiful integration between fruit and oak, this wine has a wonderful weight to it which gives it an elegance and intensity without being too powerful. An excellent wine to slurp with a mid week supper or casual dinner with friends or even to match the grilled meats of a barbecue. Merlot is a grape that benefits from a well regulated climate to avoid over ripening towards the end of the harvest as well as being planted on a slope to allow for good drainage.
Excellent with braising steak, roast chicken or duck, burgers, risotto (especially with mushrooms) and salmon.
