Viognier is definitely on the up and up, originally from the Rhone Valley it is now produced in North and South America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Occasionally you can find it blended with Syrah. It is a perfect match with spicy food and this wine is no exception. It has a wonderful burst of fruit on the mid palate and the elegant natural sweetness of the grape variety make it a soft and rounded wine with a lovely balanced acidity. The finish is fruity, long and luscious, enjoy with Indian and Asian dishes, lobster, cheese, foie gras, scallops, crab and seafood.
